Ambassador Ivo Daalder is the United States’ Permanent Representative on the Council of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Previously, Ambassador Daalder was a Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy studies at the Brookings Institution and, between 1995 and 1997, he was Director for European Affairs on President Clinton’s National Security Council. From 1998 to 2001, Ambassador Daalder also served as a Member of the Study Group of the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century. Ambassador Daalder is a member of the Academy of Political Science, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies. He also has a strong academic background, having taught as an associate professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a Director of Research at the Center for International and Security Studies.
