David Hannay is an experienced British diplomat, who for five years served as Ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations. He is the Chair of the United Nations Association UK. Most recently he has taken on specialized roles as Special Representative for Cyprus and as a member of the UN High Level Panel on Threats, Challenges and Change. In 2001, he was created a life peer and made pro-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham.
