General (Ret.) Lord David Ramsbotham is a retired British Army officer, serving among other roles as director of public relations (1982-84) and adjutant general (1990-93) before his retirement in 1993. General (Ret.) Lord Ramsbotham was later Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons from 1995-2001. In 2005, he was awarded a life peerage and sits in the House of Lords as a Crossbench peer. He is also a member of the Top Level Group of UK Parliamentarians for Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.
