Jacques Attali

Dr. Jacques Attali served as an advisor to French President Francois Mitterrand from 1981 to 1991. He subsequently became the first president of the London-based European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he served from 1991-1993. During his political career, Dr. Attali acted as an advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the issue of nuclear weapons, and founded efforts to alleviate suffering in developing nations such as Action Contre la Faim (Action Against Hunger). He went on to found a non-profit organization called PlaNet Finance, promoting development through microfinance.
