Mr. Akihisa Nagashima

Mr. Aki Nagashima is Research Associate for Asian Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is currently engaged in a two-year projects on "Managing Change on the Korean Peninsula" and on "Japanese Foreign Policy and U.S. Interests in Asia" at the Council.

Before joining the Council's Washington Office in August of 1997, Mr. Nagashima was a Visiting Fellow at the Center for United States-Japan Studies and Cooperation of Vanderbilt University (1994-1995), Chief Political Analyst at the Heisei Research Institute, Tokyo (1992-1993), Chief of Staff at the Office of Representative Nobuteru Ishihara (LDP-Tokyo) (1990-1993), and a professional lecturer of Constitutional Law at the Tokyo Bunka Junior College, Tokyo (1989-1992).

Mr. Nagashima received his M.A. from The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University in 1997 and his LL.M. from Keio University Graduate School of Law in 1988. He received his B.A. in Political Science and LL.B. from Keio University in 1984 and 1986, respectively.
