There is a clear and present danger. And Japan has a unique and special responsibility as the only nation to experience nuclear disaster. All nations must go back to the basic foundations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and forge a pragmatic, fair and universal solution to the problem.

Ambassador Toshiyuki Takano is an accomplished Japanese diplomat. Graduating from the University of Tokyo, he served in the Japanese diplomatic service in a variety of capacities. He became the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001, and he served as the Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, the Republic of Korea, and the Federal Republic of Germany. Currently he serves as a Senior Advisor to the ITOCHU Corporation.
