The former president of Bolivia, Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga currently serves as president of FUNDEMOS, a Bolivian public policy think tank. He also acts as vice president of the Club of Madrid and sits on the boards of several international organizations, including InterAmerican Dialogue and Results for Development: R4D. In 1998, he received the World Leader of Tomorrow Award from the World Economic Forum. He served as Bolivia’s vice president from 1997 to 2001, when he assumed the office of president. Before entering politics, he worked as a systems engineer at IBM in Texas and was vice president of projects and investment at the Merchant Bank of Bolivia.
