Paris, France – The Global Zero Summit February 2-4 in Paris will convene 200 international political, military, business and faith leaders – as well as 30 university student leaders – to discuss a practical step-by-step plan for the phased, verified elimination of all nuclear weapons and to launch a global grassroots campaign.
The group meets at a critical decision time as U.S.-Russia negotiations on a new arms reductions accord reaches its final stage and 40-plus national leaders prepare for President Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit in April. Obama’s arms control chief, Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher, will speak at the Global Zero Summit. Lawrence Bender (Oscar-winning producer of Inglorious Bastards, Good Will Hunting, An Inconvenient Truth) will present a two-minute teaser of his new documentary film on the nuclear danger, Countdown to Zero, which was produced in partnership with Participant Media and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25 to critical acclaim.
