Global Zero Student Leadership Summer

This July and August, Global Zero will invite 20 college students to join an elite corps of youth activists working towards the elimination of nuclear weapons worldwide.

The Global Zero Student Leadership Summer will join students selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants with high profile policy leaders and Global Zero signatories for private policy briefings, and offer student activists media and organizing training from top practitioners in their field.

*Update: Speakers for the lunchtime policy meetings have been confirmed!  They are Tony Lake, Ambassador Thomas Pickering, and Ambassador Richard Burt.  

Who Should Apply
Current college students, recently graduated high school students starting college in fall 2009, and students taking a gap year.

Global Zero is looking for applicants who are ready to commit to the mission of global zero - this means starting and leading chapters on your campus and coordinating closely with Global Zero staff online and offline to grow a global grassroots movement for zero.

How to Apply
Applications are due before 9AM Thursday, July 16M 5PM Friday, July 17 and must be submitted through the online web form.  Acceptances will be distributed on a rolling basis, so interested individuals are encouraged to complete and submit their applications asap.

Program Schedule
The Global Zero Student Leadership Summer will consist of three lunchtime policy briefings with Global Zero Signatories between July 22 and August 7, one per week.   Program participants will also be required to participate in two weekend trainings on Saturday, July 25 and Saturday, August 1.

*Update: the confirmed dates and time for lunch meetings are July 22, July 30, and August 7, 12pm-2pm.
