Archbishop Edwin Frederick O'Brien is the Archbishop of Baltimore, the United States’ oldest diocese. Archbishop O’Brien sits on the Committee on International Justice and Peace of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in which capacity he advocates for a world free of nuclear weapons. Between 1997 and 2007, Archbishop O’Brien served as the Archbishop of the United States Military, where, drawing on his previous experience as army chaplain, he ministered to  the 1.5 million people in the armed forces. Archibishop O'Brien was also Titular Archbishop of Thizica, and, previously, Auxiliary Bishop of New York and Rector of the Pontifical North American College.
