Global Zero Stands in Solidarity For Racial Justice

WASHINGTON, DC — In response to the widespread protests and police violence that have erupted in the wake of the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, the leadership and staff of Global Zero, the international movement for a world without nuclear weapons, issued the following statement:

Global peace and security cannot be achieved without justice and liberation for all. Ending white supremacy and racial injustice – in our communities, our institutions, and our movements – is critical to building a world free from threats of mass destruction.

We are committed to anti-racism in our work to build a safer, more secure world for all people. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and are united in the fight against systemic racism and anti-Blackness, in the United States and elsewhere. We call upon all those who share the struggle for a more just and peaceful world to do the same.

Black lives matter.
